Hyundai Elantra Named “Top Pick” By Consumer Reports

March 5, 2010

What car you drive is a big decision, so it’s good to do your research before you buy. Consumer Reports has long been one of the most trusted sources on consumer goods, and their Annual Auto Issue is a solid research staple for many consumers who are thinking of purchasing a vehicle.

In the just-released 2010 Auto issue, Hyundai earned a top spot in the  “Top Picks: Best models of the year in 10 categories” feature: the 2010 Hyundai Elantra SE was named the #1 “Top Pick” in the “Small Sedan” category. Consumer Reports chose the Elantra for its blend of comfort, space, fuel economy, features for the money, and quiet ride.

“It’s a solid, all-around car,” says CR editors, who also give high praise to the 2010 Elantra SE’s standard ABS and standard ESC (which, they note, is “absent in other small cars”). The 2010 Hyundai Elantra has a starting MSRP of $14,145.

February 27, 2010

Kelly Blue Book is a big name in the auto industry, and is an especially strong voice in helping consumers make informed decisions about the vehicles they choose to transport their families safely and securely.

Recently, Kelly Blue Book’s website, KBB.com, announced its Top 10 Family Vehicles for 2010, and on that list was the 2010 Hyundai Elantra Touring. The Touring was unique to this list: As a compact hatchback, it boasted the smallest size (and best fuel economy) on a list full of vans and crossovers.

So what makes the Hyundai Elantra Touring so family-friendly? According to KBB.com’s editors, they chose the 2010 Elantra Touring be cause it is not only roomy and flexible, but offers “a slew of safety features,” a superior warranty, and is very fuel efficient.

2011 Hyundai Sonata: A Solid Value, Now And Later

February 27, 2010

What makes a valuable car? Excellent styling and high end features? Reliable performance and proving safety ratings? What about fuel economy, trunk space, and powertrain warranty, all weighed against the sticker price?

These are all excellent measures of a vehicle, but they’re not the only measures. Recently, the 2011 Hyundai Sonata ranked best in its class in ALG (Automotive Lease Guide)’s Residual Value Index. This measures not just what the vehicle is worth when you buy it, but how valuable it proves to be over a period of time.

All vehicles depreciate in value, but the 2011 Sonata, says ALG, retains the most bang for your buck after 36 months of ownership. That means better trade value (not that you would want to, since the Sonata comes with America’s Best Warranty and has a long life of driving ahead of it), and better leasing value as well.

It’s not just that the 2011 Hyundai Sonata beat out others in its class: it’s also the fact that the comparison included premium brands such as Mercedes, BMW, and Lexus. Who lasted? Hyundai. Because the highest commitment to quality, it turns out, is worth something on paper as well as on the road.

This year, Hyundai’s Genesis sedan was named “Best Deal for the Boss” for its combination of high end features and style at a good price. These two elements aren’t a surprise to anyone (after all, the Genesis won North American Car of the Year last year, and its MSRP starts at $33,000 – a pretty impressive combination). But the “Best Deal for the Boss” award is a fun way of looking at what we’ve known all along.
