The 2011 Hyundai Sonata has been massively popular since first available some weeks ago, and the 2010 Hyundai Santa Fe has also been gaining a swiftly growing following. More Award-Winners: Sonata, Genesis, Sonata (Again!)
As a Cathedral City Hyundai dealership, we’re always excited (and rarely surprised) when a Hyundai vehicle from our current lineup wins another award. In this case, though, something surprising happened.
First, the less-surprising news, which is still a big deal: Edmunds.com recently named their Top 10 Best Dark-Horse cars, and both the 2010 Hyundai Genesis and the 2011 Hyundai Sonata made the list with flying colors! Edmunds praises the quality build, style, and features-for-the-price that both the Sonata and Genesis offer.

Then the even bigger news. J.D. Power and Associates, each year, conducts an “Initial Quality Study,” surveying thousands of new vehicle owners on very detailed aspects of their cars after two months of driving. Not only did the 2011 Sonata out-perform every other vehicle on the list (over 70 in all), but it got the highest score ever recorded in the history of the study: the Sonata did so well that J.D. Power created a new award to recognize its performance, called the President’s Award. That’s pretty amazing stuff.

2011 Sonata Wins Family Sedan Shootout
The fact that family sedans aren’t pumped with 400 hundred horsepower and four tailpipes shouldn’t mean they can’t participate in “shootouts” of their own. After all, it’s competition of a completely different type. Muscle cars, move over. Cars.com recently put 8 family sedans available under $25,000 to the test.
Up to bat were some pretty big names: the Honda Accord, Toyota Camry, Chevrolet Malibu, Ford Fusion, 2011 Hyundai Sonata, Nissan Altima, Suzuki Kizashi, and Mazda6.
The cars were tested by expert automotive reviewers, and more importantly, by a real family from L.A.: Ben and Jill Tiernan and their infant and toddler.
In search of the car that would deliver the best in areas including some you’d expect (acceleration/braking, ride, and visibility) and others that are more subjective, yet very personal to drivers (seat comfort, family comfort, child-safety seat accommodation, family features, trunk, and first impressions/style).
